Lighthouse Baptist Church was started in 2005 by Pastor Aaron Gamble. Brother Gamble had a successful, growing church in Fountain Inn South Carolina that he planted in the early 90’s. Brother Gamble was a friend of the Durham Rescue Mission and became a Board Member in 2000. He was often asked to speak at Mission events. The Lord used these events to burden him and his wife for Durham. In 2005 he moved is wife and 5 kids to Durham and started the Lighthouse Baptist Church.

The church met at the facilities of the Durham Rescue Mission for about a year, and then the Lord moved on a downtown church (Grace Baptist Church) to share its facilities with Lighthouse Baptist. The two churches share the same building and get along beautifully. The building has more than adequate space for Sunday school activities, fellowships, and any other church related activity.

Lighthouse Baptist is a mission minded church. One of the first decisions the church made after its inception was to support missionaries. There are over 9 missionaries or missions projects that Lighthouse Baptist Church is presently supporting.

Future plans for Lighthouse Baptist church include a daycare center and a Christian Academy. Grace Baptist church used to operate such a ministry, and Lighthouse Baptist hopes to resurrect this in the future. The coming days look bright and exciting as to what the Lord is going do with Lighthouse Baptist Church.
